Exosomes sit at the point where real cell biology meets a fast-growing beauty and wellness market. That gap is where misleading claims live.
The science is interesting and moving quickly. Cells really do release these vesicles, they really do carry signals between cells, and researchers are studying them for diagnostics and drug delivery. At the same time, most consumer products are cosmetics, their effects on skin are still being characterised, and injectable exosome treatments are not approved in the United States.
We think the useful thing to do is explain both halves clearly, and then hold our own products to the standard we describe. A note on regulation
In the United States, no exosome product has been approved by the FDA to treat any condition. Topical products are regulated as cosmetics and may not claim to change the structure or function of skin. The FDA has issued warnings about clinics offering unapproved exosome injections.
