Best exosomes for microneedling: what to look for

Educational content. This article summarises published research on extracellular vesicles as a category. It does not describe or make claims about any product supplied by ExosomeShop, which are cosmetic-grade preparations for topical professional use and are not intended to treat any condition.

"Best" here means: characterised vesicles, in a base that belongs on freshly needled skin, in a format you can rely on. Here is how to judge that.

The vesicles

For post-procedure use the research points to mesenchymal-cell-derived vesicles, most often from umbilical cord. Look for a certificate of analysis showing size distribution around 30–150 nm, tetraspanin markers CD9, CD63 and CD81, and a particle-to-protein ratio as a purity check. Plant-derived vesicles are cheaper and legal in more markets but have far less evidence on treated human skin.

The base

Freshly needled skin has no tolerance for fragrance, alcohol, essential oils or strong preservatives. The base should be a simple, fragrance-free hyaluronic acid or aqueous solution that spreads without stinging. Read the ingredient list, not just the exosome claim.

Sterility

Anything applied to an open barrier should be sterility- and endotoxin-tested per lot. This is not a given in the cosmetic market; ask for the result.

Format

Single-use vials avoid contamination between patients. Freeze-dried vials avoid the slow degradation of liquid products between orders. A take-home ampoule pack covers the five days after treatment when the barrier is still recovering.

The protocol

  1. Apply immediately after needling once pinpoint bleeding settles; let it absorb.
  2. Second thin layer before the patient leaves, then your usual bland occlusive.
  3. No acids or retinoids for 48 hours.
  4. Home ampoules morning and evening for three to five days.
  5. Photographs at baseline, two weeks and three months.

The clinical evidence for this window is summarised in exosomes after microneedling.
