Exosomes for estheticians and aesthetic nurses

Educational content. This article summarises published research on extracellular vesicles as a category. It does not describe or make claims about any product supplied by ExosomeShop, which are cosmetic-grade preparations for topical professional use and are not intended to treat any condition.

Estheticians and aesthetic nurses are the people applying most topical exosome products. Here is what the products are, where they fit, and what to say to clients.

Scope of practice

Topical exosome products are cosmetics. Applying them to the skin after a procedure you are licensed to perform is within scope in most states. Injecting them is not, for anyone, and is not an approved use. Which procedures you may perform, and at what needle depth, is governed by your state board and, in medical settings, your medical director. Check before adding a service.

Which procedures pair with exosomes

Microneedling at cosmetic depths, and post-laser or post-peel care under medical direction. The product goes on immediately after treatment while the barrier is open, with a second layer before the client leaves. Home ampoules for the following days extend the benefit. See the microneedling guide.

Handling in the treatment room

  • Keep vials refrigerated at 2–8 °C until use; do not freeze liquid product.
  • Reconstitute freeze-dried vials with the supplied diluent immediately before application and use within the labelled window.
  • Single-use per client. Discard leftovers; do not store an opened vial.
  • Record the lot number against the client's record.

What to say to clients

Describe exosomes as tiny cell-derived vesicles that carry signals cells use to communicate, applied after a procedure. Say that the product is a cosmetic, not a treatment for any condition, and describe appearance only. Never say "stem cells", "FDA-approved", "repairs DNA" or "reverses ageing". Our reference page gives you the plain-language version.

Buying as an esthetician

Independent estheticians can open an account with a current esthetics license; medical-setting products and scalp protocols are supplied to practices with a medical director. Start with the intake form.

Licensed practices can request pricing, a certificate of analysis and a sample kit. Go back to the buyer's guide.
